Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta (born March 28, 1986), better known by her stage name Lady Gaga, is an American pop singer-songwriter. After performing in the rock music scene of New York City's Lower East Side in 2003 and later enrolling at New York University'sTisch School of the Arts, she soon signed with Streamline Records, an imprint of Interscope Records. During her early time at Interscope, she worked as a songwriter for fellow label artists and captured the attention of recording artist Akon, who recognized her vocal abilities, and signed her to his own label, Kon Live Distribution.

Gaga came to prominence following the release of her debut studio album The Fame (2008), which was a critical and commercial success and achieved international popularity with the singles "Just Dance" and "Poker Face". The album reached number one on the record charts of six countries, topped the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart while simultaneously peaking at number two on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States and accomplished positions within the top ten worldwide. Achieving similar worldwide success, The Fame Monster (2009), its follow-up, produced a further two global chart-topping singles "Bad Romance" and "Telephone" and allowed her to embark on her second global concert tour, The Monster Ball Tour, just months after having finished her first, The Fame Ball Tour. Her second studio album Born This Way, released in May 2011, topped the charts in all major musical markets, after the arrival of its eponymous lead single "Born This Way", which achieved the number-one spot in countries worldwide and was the fastest-selling single in the history of iTunes, selling one million copies in five days.

Inspired by glam rock artists like David BowieElton John and Queen, as well as pop singers such as Madonna and Michael Jackson, Gaga is well-recognized for her outrĂ© sense of style in fashion, in performance and in her music videos. Her contributions to the music industry have garnered her numerous achievements including five Grammy Awards, among twelve nominations; two Guinness World Records; and the estimated sale of 13–15 million albums and 51–60 million singles worldwide. Billboard named her the Artist of the Year in 2010, ranking her as the 73rd Artist of the 2000s decade. Gaga has been included in Time magazine's annual Time 100 list of the most influential people in the world as well as being listed in a number of Forbes' annual lists.

Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai pregnant

MUMBAI, June 25, 2011 (AFP) - Former Miss World turned actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is pregnant, her father-in-law and veteran Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has revealed.

"NEWS NEWS NEWS !! I AM GOING TO BECOME A GRANDFATHER .. AISHWARYA EXPECTING .. SO HAPPY AND THRILLED !!!," Bachchan wrote on his Twitter page late Tuesday.Aishwarya Rai, 37, married Bachchan's actor son Abhishek, 35, in April 2007. The child will be their first and comes after weeks of speculation in Indian gossip columns about the actress' fluctuating weight.

Bachchan senior later said on the micro-blogging site that he was "overwhelmed" with the response to the news from followers and had received 2,843 tweets of congratulation in just half an hour.

Writing on his blog bigb.bigadda.com, he said: "There is joy and happiness around us."There was no immediate indication when the baby was due.The Bachchans -- Amitabh, his actress wife Jaya, Aishwarya and Abhishek -- are Bollywood's "first family" and have a fanatical following in India and around the world. His daughter, Shweta Nanda, has two children. The family patriarch said he was particularly pleased with the news because "now cometh the progeny of my son that shall bear the surname Bachchan - the first in this generation...".

The family boycotted the annual Filmfare magazine awards in 2010 after a tabloid newspaper in Mumbai wrote that Rai could not have children, prompting a legal notice to be sent demanding a retraction and an apology.

Rai, who took the Miss World crown in 1994, made her debut in Hindi-language Bollywood in the late 1990s and has gone on to star in more than 40 Indian films.

Most recently she was in the blockbuster South Indian film "Endhiran" (Robot) alongside Tamil-language superstar Rajinikanth, which broke box office records in India.

She appeared as a jewel thief in Steve Martin's "The Pink Panther 2". Her other English-language films include "Bend It Like Beckham" director Gurinder Chadha's "Bride and Prejudice" in 2004 and "The Last Legion" in 2007.

She was recently seen at the Cannes film festival promoting her upcoming film "Heroine", which was due to begin shooting this year.

The chief executive of UTV Motion Pictures, Ronnie Screwvala, said at the time that Rai had star power.

"She is the brand ambassador for India and for Indian cinema when it comes to the French Riviera."

Rai also has a number of lucrative modelling contracts, including for French cosmetics firm L'Oreal.

IIFA awards: Cold vibes between Bipasha Basu and Mallika Sherawat

Bollywood hotties,Bipasha Basu and Mallika Sherawatshared cold vibes at a film awards being held abroad. The organisers were clearly embarrassed when Sherawat refused to step on the stage after calling out her name thrice. She was seated in the front row. Apparently, Sherawat was upset that Basu was walking away with all the attention.
According to the event schedule, all the actors were supposed to join emcee, actor Boman Irani on stage when their names were called out one by one. Bipasha was the first to be called on stage as she was the biggest star in attendance. She was supposed to be joined on stage by actor Anil Kapoor, filmmakers Subhash Ghai, Satish Kaushik. The last on the list was actress Sherawat.
When Boman announced Sherawat ’s name, she just smiled back, but kept sitting. The actor, sensing something was wrong, repeated the announcement twice with a smile and his trademark humour, but Sherawat did not budge. It’s only when Sabbas Joseph, the head of the event management company organising the event, requested (almost pleading) that Sherawat walked gingerly towards the stage and stood at an extreme end of the stage.
Though Basu called out to join her as she posed for the shutterbugs, Sherawat refused politely. The actresses apparently shared cold vibes even off the stage.
